A fine example of a late 19th Century Scottish Georgian manner pine & gesso fireplace surround.
A generous moulded top shelf with a secondary under shelf, a wrap around egg and dart cornice moulding. A high relief central tablet showing fine gesso work, flanked by side panels of swags and bell flower drops with tied ribbons, the end capitols with matching torches and arrows and further ribbons.
Below the tall framed jambs with further bell flower drops and ribbons above, all resting on shaped foot blocks. This piece has developed a wonderful rich honey colour to the almost knot free pine.
