A large, rare and elegant early 19th century 1810c Scottish (Edinburgh’s New Town) Georgian Statuary marble fireplace surround. A generous square edged top shelf sits above a stepped unadorned frieze panel, flanked by protruding capitol’s with base moulded separation capping and a top continuous ogee moulding following the frieze line shape. Supported by tall unadorned stepped jambs giving this piece flair, side returns have cock-beading detail (ball joint) to all edges, all resting on shaped sturdy foot block work.
