A large and unusually tall 19th Century Regency pierced polished brass serpentine fire grate, with elaborate etched urn finials, all supported on tapered legs. To the centre, a pierced serpentine brass apron with etchings of swags and drops, directly above, curved wings showing further etchings with a high relief continuous beading.
The tall cast iron fireback decorated with a central scallop shell flanked with mythical sea creatures below, three delicate putti joyfully playing under a tree. An almost identical fire grate was in the Etruscan Room of Home House, Portman Square, London.
