A large and elegant 19th century Victorian slow arched fireplace surround in polished soft dark grey Saint Anne des Pyrenees marble.
The wide moulded shelf rests on large geometric corbeled jambs with block and splayed capping above, the returns have outer quarter columns adjoining the side sections. The stepped frieze is centred by a simple plain tablet with moulded capping as before, below the slow arch of the opening connecting fluted spandrels onto beveled side supports with a central splayed keystone adornment, the whole resting on moulded foot blocks.
This is a beautiful fireplace surround, imposing in its simplicity, and high marble colour and quality.
